Police yesterday December 8, 2024, while conducting routine patrols received information that unknown individuals were reportedly bathing within the High Court premises for suspected ritual purposes.
Police Public Relations Officer Ray Hamoonga explains that acting on this report, police officers rushed to the scene and apprehended four male individuals who have has been detained on a holding charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
Mr. Hamoonga adds that Initial investigations have revealed that the individuals in question are vagabonds with no fixed abode. They were found outside the High Court grounds at a location near the roundabout where there is a broken drainage system that collects water.
He says Contrary to earlier reports, the suspects were not bathing within the High Court premises but were allegedly washing plastic containers for resale, a common activity among street vendors in the area.
Further inquiries indicate that this location is frequently used by mobile shoe vendors and street workers to clean their merchandise or containers for their trade. The four individuals remain in custody as investigations continue.
He has since urged members of the public to exercise caution in spreading unverified information and to report suspicious activities to the police immediately for appropriate action.
