NGO Raises Concern At The Increased Numbers Of Drug Users Contracting HIV/AIDS

A non-governmental organization (NGO) that seeks to provide a platform for health and drug policy reforms has expressed concerns at the increased numbers of drug users contracting HIV/AIDS.

Harm Reduction Zambia Network (HRZN) executive director Desmond Sakala says the status quo is worrisome and that policy barriers in Zambia are making it difficult to contain the situation.

 

Mr. Zulu has told Mafken News in Lusaka that the drug policy in Zambia is retributive to people who use drugs in its current form.

He further stated that the policy is also making it difficult to implement harm reduction services especially amongst drug users.
