Mining expert Charles Mulila on the Copperbelt Province has emphasized the need for the government to harmonize policies within the mining sector to eradicate corruption.
Mr. Mulila has highlighted that the mining sector, as the backbone of the country’s economy, should not be compromised by corrupt practices and negotiations.
He has further cautioned against business dealings between mining companies and individuals holding active political positions, as this can be a significant factor contributing to corruption in the sector.
The expert has also advocated for parliamentary involvement in the awarding of mining contracts, arguing that this would enhance transparency and reduce opportunities for corruption.
