Parliament Passes Motion to Enhance Regulation of Online Gambling

The Private Member’s Motion urging the government to enhance the regulation of online gambling has successfully passed in Parliament.

The motion which was moved by Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Sunday Chanda seeks to protect vulnerable groups, particularly young people, from the adverse effects of unregulated online gambling while fostering a safer and more accountable gaming environment.

In his debate, Mr. Chanda argues the motion is a step towards stronger protections, increased accountability, and the generation of revenue can be directed towards youth empowerment, education, and mental health services.

Mr. Chanda has extended gratitude to the people of Kamfinsa Constituency for seconding this motion and to the Executive for supporting adding that lawmakers must safeguard the citizens from exploitation and promote responsible gambling.
