Residents of Mupambe Township in Mufulira District are living in fear of a looming outbreak of waterborne diseases due to blocked sewer lines.
The residents have told Mafken News that the situation of sewer blockages has become worse following the onset of the rains and if not attended to, the township will again experience an outbreak of Typhoid disease which was experienced in 2012.
One of the residents Priscila Musonda says the problem of blocked sewer lines has persisted in Mupambe and nothing has been done despite the situation being reported to the responsible water utility company Mulonga on several occasions.
The residents have appealed to government to intervene into the matter before an outbreak of waterborne diseases is experienced in the Mupambe Township.
