ZESCO Limited has announced a reduction in power rationing hours to between 3 and 5 hours, following a nationwide power system disturbance on November 24, 2024.
Speaking at a joint press briefing with the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), ZESCO’s Acting Managing Director, Justine Longo, explained that from November 17 to 24, 2024, ZESCO temporarily removed the line connecting Zambia to Namibia’s power supply as part of ongoing maintenance.
Mr Longo further explained that during this period, power rationing was reduced from 7 hours to 5 hours.
However, he noted that the utility was in the process of normalizing the rationing hours back to 7 when the recent power disturbance occurred, affecting the system and further reducing the rationing hours.
