The Zambia Institute of Environmental Health (ZIEH) president Dr. Titus Haankonde has bemoaned that preventive health services in Zambia are underfunded.
Dr. Haankonde says despite being cost effective and essential for mitigating disease outbreaks in the country, funding towards preventive health services still remains low.
Speaking during the Environmental Health Practitioners meeting in Lusaka, Dr. Haankonde also stated that environmental health expertise are underrepresented in key roles making it difficult for them to operate effectively.
He called on government to consider addressing the said challenges in order to enhance proper health delivery services in the country.
