Kanchibiya Member Of Parliament Sunday Chanda says the recent reports of farmers sharing agricultural inputs, particularly fertilizer, point to significant flaws in the distribution process thereby undermining the program’s objectives.
Mr. Chanda notes that the reported sharing of inputs arises from discrepancies in distribution, inadequate oversight, and potential mismanagement at various stages of the supply chain which calls for immediate action as Zambia’s agricultural sector depends on such programs.
He has since called on Government to conduct a comprehensive Audit of the Fertilizer Distribution Process by embarking on a nationwide audit of the distribution chain to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and any fraudulent practices.
Mr. Chanda tells Mafken News that as the country approaches the 2024 farming season, it is essential to restore trust in FISP by addressing these systemic challenges to ensure that every farmer receives their fair share of inputs.
