Bus drivers at Lusaka’s intercity bus terminus have boycotted as a way of challenging the decision by the Road transport and Safety Agency RTSA to suspend Juldan motorways operating Licence.
Last week, RTSA suspended Juldan’s licence following conclusive investigations into the crash involving a South Africa Juldan bound bus on the 15th October that left four people dead with others sustaining serious injuries.
Addressing the media and the aggrieved bus drivers, transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali expressed dismay at the bus drivers boycott which left many passengers stranded in the process.
Mr. Tayali explains that the suspension of Juldan’s licence is a temporary measure meant to engage with the proprietor and ensure that any lapses are remedied and once the compliance list is complete, the suspension will be lifted.
The Minister has appealed to the Bus and Taxi Owners Association Of Zambia (BTOAZ) to engage with his ministry whenever they are aggrieved, further warning that his ministry will not condone any individuals that are trying to disrupt commerce in the country.
