Vice President Mutale Nalumango has called on citizens to understand that as nation, not much has been invested in the energy sector.
The vice president says it is as a result of the little to no investment in the energy sector that has led to the current power situation but also necessitated by the unforeseen drought that hit the country last rain season.
Ms. Nalumango therefore says it is wrong for people to point fingers at a government that has only been in power for 3 years as the main cause of the energy crisis when the matter is a legacy issue that emanated from as far as the UNIP days.
Speaking during the vice president question time in parliament this morning, Ms. Nalumango says the UPND government has however seen this situation as a wakeup call to invest in alternative energy sources.
She says credit must be given to government because it has improved on the number of hours that people have power from 2 hours to the current 7 hours, a sign that government is tirelessly trying to improve on the power provision.
