Mopani Miners to Receive Full Benefits for All Service Years at Retirement

Miners in Kitwe and Mufulira will be fully compensated for their time spent working at Mopani Copper Mines, including the three years they were employed under ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) prior to the takeover by Delta Investment Holdings, a subsidiary of International Resource Holdings (IRH).

Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Paul Kabuswe, confirmed this during a parliamentary session in response to a question from Mufulira Central Member of Parliament, Golden Mwila. 

Mr. Mwila had inquired whether the three years worked under ZCCM-IH would be counted towards the miners’ benefits.

Mr. Kabuswe emphasized that upon retirement, the three years spent under ZCCM-IH would not be deducted, and ensuring the time worked will count towards their total service at Mopani.
