The UPND on the Copperbelt has honoured about 58 long serving and loyal members in recognition of their dedication and political resilience towards the growth of the party since 1998.
Some of those that have been honoured included individuals who passed away while fighting for political power on the Copperbelt who were honoured posthumously.
And President Hakainde Hichilema has thanked the old members of the UPND Party, who have lived to endure pain for the growth of the party, emphasizing the need to strongly support the UPND administration as it is making strides towards reviving the country’s economy.
The head of state said this when he addressed the long serving members of the party via telephone in Kitwe.
Speaking at the event, UPND Copperbelt Chairman Elisha Matambo called for Unity of purpose among party members in order for the party to achieve its objectives of leading the country beyond 2026.
Earlier, Kitwe District Commissioner Lawrence Mwanza expressed optimistism that the party will continue to honour UPND founding members going forward.
