Over 91,000 learners in Kitwe have returned to school since 2022, following the introduction of free education by the New Dawn administration.
In an interview with Mafken News, Kitwe District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Christopher Nyungila acknowledged the positive impact of the policy but highlighted ongoing challenges.
Key issues, he said, include a shortage of infrastructure and classroom furniture, with many students still forced to sit on the floor in various schools across the district.
Mr Nyungila commended the UPND government for prioritizing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which he noted has helped address some of the challenges facing the Ministry of Education.
However, he stressed the need for continued support to resolve the remaining issues.
