Inspector General of Police Graphael Musamba has asked government to allow the Zambia Police Service to train and recruit an additional 3,000 police officers ahead of the 2026 General Elections in order for them to stop individuals with a tendency of destabilizing the peace and integrity of the nation.
Speaking when he officiated at the Pass Out of the Zambia Police Services Officers at the School of Public Order Maintenance-SPOM-Kamfisa in Kitwe, Mr. Musamba noted that having more police officers recruited will guarantee enough workforce during the polls.
Mr. Musamba further observed the need for the government to put in place deliberate efforts aimed at building more security human resource to ensure that law and order is maintained during and after the elections.
The Inspector General of Police is optimistic that once this is achieved, the service will be able to effectively serve Zambians within the rule of law as expected from them.
