The Zambia Police have refuted allegations circulating on social media questioning the age of an officer who recently passed out, with claims that she is underage.

Family members of the officer, who took to social media to celebrate her entry into the police service, faced scrutiny, with some people questioning her age and others alleging that she has connections within the service.

However, in a statement to Mafken news this morning, Police deputy Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi dismissed the allegations as completely unfounded.

Mr. Chilabi clarified that the newly graduated female officer, Constable Mumbi Pascalina, whose photo is trending online, is over 20 years old.

He adds that she fully meets all the recruitment requirements, including the age criterion, which stipulates that applicants must be at least 18 years old.

He explains that before her recruitment, all necessary personal records and documentation were thoroughly verified to ensure compliance with the recruitment standards and protocols.

He described the allegations as baseless, intended to tarnish the institution’s reputation, and urged the public to rely on credible information and avoid spreading unverified claims
