A Civil Society Organisation Governance and Development Advocates Zambia is concerned with some social media narratives that President Hakainde Hichilema has fired the 3 Constitution Court Judges.

The executive Director Elias Mulenga strongly believes that this decision follows a complaint against the judges, which was thoroughly investigated by the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) therefore the president was not acting on his own wishes.

He says the President’s mandate is clearly outlined in the Zambian Constitution, and he had no choice but to invoke and exercise the Powers vested in him in article 143 of the Constitution.

Mr. Mulenga adds that it is imperative not to criticize the president unfairly based on the agendas of his opposition political parties.

He further notes that that President Hichilema is a respecter of the Constitution and the laws of Zambia and has urged citizens not to criticize him in execution of his duties.
