Zambia Police Calls For Sustainable Waste Management To Avoid Disease BreakOuts

The Zambia Police has pledged to join hands against the fight of indiscriminate disposal of wastes.

Senior Assistant of Police Commissioner Christopher Chanda, says irresponsible dumping of waste can fuel disease outbreak hence the need for all stakeholders to join hands and fight the practice.

He observed that a sustainable management of waste is significant global challenge and Zambia is no exception.

Africa Rise and SWITCH to Green have hosted an event dubbed, ” Transform Through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): How EPR Finances Waste Management & Enables Investment.

It was found that a lack of awareness, finances and technology is leading to the current  situation of open dump sites causing harm to public health and the environment.

And delegation of the European Union to Zambia and COMESA Christiane Haziyo called for more action from the private and households to manage waste responsibly.
