Government Acknowledges Unresolved Issues At Mulonga Water While Committing To Addressing Them

Kantanshi Member Of parliament Anthony Mumba has raised concern over the non-commissioning of projects especially projects involving water that have been completed and yet still remain un-commissioned.

Mr. Mumba has also raised worry over the water problems that Mufulira district is facing especially owing to the shortcomings of the local water utility Mulonga water supply and Sanitation Company.

Speaking in parliament, the MP also asked Government to come up with measures that can support the failures of the water utility Mulonga stressing that the people of Mufulira are in dire need of water.

And responding to Mr. Mumba’s Comments, Minister of Water development and sanitation Collins Nzovu stated that government has come up with various interventions to mitigate the water crisis in the country.

The minister revealed that government has a budget line for emergency works in all provinces under water utilities.

Mr. Nzovu acknowledged that Mulonga water supply and Sanitation Company has various unresolved issues which he says government is attending to.

The minister also stated that government is trying by all means to accelerate the completion of projects like those under the integrated water supply project that will see to it that water stress levels calm down especially on the Copperbelt.
