The Acton Institute for Policy Analysis Centre (AIPAC) has expressed concern over the delay by President Hakainde Hichilema in appointing a substantive Director General and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Board of Commissioners.

AIPAC Executive Director Solomon Ngoma stated tells Mafken News that this perceived delay is concerning, especially following the acting Director General’s announcement of investigations involving nine ministers.

Mr Ngoma has acknowledged the President’s efforts, such as the recent launch of the National Policy on Anti-Corruption, but warned that the lack of permanent leadership at the ACC could undermine progress.

He has also criticized government’s anti-corruption efforts, alleging bias. He pointed out that despite reports from the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and Auditor General in 2022 and 2023 detailing significant abuse of public funds, no arrests have been made.
