Two boys aged 3 and 4 years have drowned in a well in Ndola’s Chipulukusu compound on the Copperbelt province.
The incident occurred on October 12, 2024 between 18 and 22 hours and was reported by the boys’ mother Patricia Daka aged 34 years.
Brief facts of the matter are that around 18 hours, the now deceased minors were at home playing and suddenly disappeared from the parents who thought that they were just within the vicinity as usual.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba tells Mafken News that it was after some time elapsed and parents started searching for the children and later reported the matter at Mapalo police post after 20 hours and continued the search afterwards.
Mr. Mweemba reveals that at 22 hours, the reporter received information about the children who drowned in the well after which she rushed there and found the two minors being retrieved from the well by well-wishers within the neighbourhood.
Police officers rushed to the scene and confirmed the incident. The bodies have since been taken to Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital awaiting possible post-mortem and burial.
