HELSB Awards Loans to 3,537 CBU First-Year Students

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) has awarded student loans to 3,537 first-year students at Copperbelt University for the 2024/2025 academic year.
HELSB Manager Corporate Communications and Customer Services Chiselwa Kawanda says the number of applicants considered per province was based on the ratio of eligible applicants from each province to the total number of eligible applications.
Kawanda reveals that HELSB received 10,623 applications for sponsorship at Copperbelt University, with 9,926 applicants meeting the eligibility criteria, while the remaining 697 applicants did not meet the set criteria.
Additionally, HELSB received 15 applications from students living with disabilities. Two of these students had already been awarded loans at other universities, and the remaining 13 have been granted student loans.
