President Hichilema Places Digitisation Crucial in Economic Acceleration

President Hakainde Hichilema says digitisation plays a critical role in the acceleration of economic and social development.
The president says there is need for the African population to grow the economy so as to take care of the larger population of the country who are the youths.
The president acknowledges that Zambia is lagging behind in terms of technology hence the need for the country to place digitisation top on its agenda.
Speaking at the Digital Government Africa 2024 summit in Lusaka, the President emphasized the need to invest seriously in the digital sector because the sector is capable of driving other divisions such as the Agriculture and Mining.
Speaking at the same event, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwimbu stated that government remains committed to enacting progressive digital laws that support innovation.
Mr. Mwimmbu positions that government will continue to collaborate with other countries and the private sector to reap maximum benefits so as to build a resilient digital future for the country.
Meanwhile, the minister also revealed that government is leveraging technology to enhance national security and improve public services.
