The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced that it is currently reviewing submissions from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) regarding the pricing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
The focus of the review is to ensure that the interests of both OMCs and consumers are balanced, as the demand for LPG continues to grow in the country.
Speaking during a media briefing, ERB Board Chairperson James Banda stated that the submissions are part of the Board’s efforts to understand the reasons behind the recent increase in LPG prices.
He highlighted that the ERB’s goal is to create an environment that encourages investment in the LPG sector while ensuring that consumers are not exploited.
Mr added that the Board is working to finalize its decision on whether to regulate the pricing of LPG by the end of this month, following consultations with OMCs and consumer groups.
