Zambia Commemorates International Day Of Older Persons

Stakeholders on the Copperbelt have bemoaned the manner in which the old aged people are being treated in society.
Today, October, 1st, 2024 Zambia joined the rest of the world in recognizing this year’s 34th International Day of Older Persons under the theme “Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide.”
And Speaking In an interview with Mafken news in kitwe, Young People for Positive Change-Executive Director Albert Chileya says it is disheartening for the young people to embrace the narrative of connecting the old aged persons to witchcraft at any given occasion.
Meanwhile, Riverside City Church Pastor Allan Chishala has implored young couples not to abandon their old aged parents by dumping them into old peoples homes, but learn to take care of them by showing them love and support.
