Political activist Tenson Manzi has expressed support for former Sixth Republican President, Edgar Lungu, urging him to remain confident in his ongoing eligibility case before the Constitutional Court.
In an interview with Mafken News, Mr Manzi also raised concerns regarding the recent removal of three Constitutional judges, particularly given that the ruling on President Lungu’s eligibility is set to be heard this week.
He suggested that if the court’s decision goes against the former Head of State, it could lead to public speculation that government aimed to prevent him from contesting in the upcoming elections.
Additionally, he has criticized President Hakainde Hichilema for not waiting for the conclusion of Mr Lungu’s case before making judicial changes, asserting that this move could be perceived as an attempt to undermine the judiciary.
Recently, former President Lungu expressed optimism about winning his eligibility case for a fifth time, asserting his intent to appear on the ballot in 2026.
