Health Ministry Commits To Revising Outdated Policies In The Health Sector

Acting Health Minister Elias Mubanga says government is revising certain policies to address challenges in the health sector, such as the National drug policy of 1999 and the whole health sector supply chain.
Mr. Mubanga notes that certain policies are outdated hence the need to realign them with current trends in the wake of the ongoing effects of climate change.
The minister also emphasised on the availability of medicines in health facilities of upto 90 percent, which he says is encouraging to note.
Speaking at the Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia Indaba held at Pamodzi Hotel In Lusaka this morning, the acting health minister urged all health workers to safe guard resources from misuse but instead ensure that all citizens have access to essential drugs.
He also urged pharmacists to promote the local manufacturing of medicines and build capacity within the supply chain.
