MASAITI MAN NABBED FOR WIFES MURDER

Police on the Copperbelt Province in Masaiti district have arrested a 42-year-old man from Katandala village for the alleged murder of his 32-year-old wife.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewel Mweemba tells Mafken News that the incident occurred between September 17th, 2024, at 18:00 hours and September 18th, 2024, at 11:00 hours.
Brief facts of the matter are that the suspect identified as Maybin Kabilo and the deceased, Vera Musongo, have been living as caretakers on a farm where the suspect is alleged to have routinely beaten his wife.
On September 16, 2024, around 17:00 hours, a neighbour heard the deceased’s cry for help and intervened. The neighbour managed to persuade the suspect to stop, and the deceased was seen in good health later that evening.
Mr. Mweemba reveals that on September 18th, 2024, at about 11:00 hours, another neighbour visited the couple’s home, upon knocking and being let in by the suspect, the neighbour discovered Musongo’s lifeless body on the floor to which members of the community were alerted and restrained the suspect until police arrived.
Police inspection of the scene revealed multiple bruises on the deceased’s body and a swollen face. Evidence found at the scene included a drag mark approximately 50 meters long leading to a nearby bush, where a knife, hammer, and a blood-stained torn blouse were recovered.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited in Ndola Teaching Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.
