MUZAKA SAMUKONGA RETURNS HOME

Muzala Samukonga, Zambia’s 2024 Olympic Bronze Medalist, has returned home to a grand reception. After his extended stay in Europe for the Diamond League, Samukonga arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, where he was welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, led by Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe.

During the ceremony at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC), Youth, Sport, and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu, in a speech delivered by Minister Elias Mubanga, commended Samukonga for proudly representing Zambia on the world stage. Nkandu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing sports through strong policies.

French Ambassador to Zambia, Thomas Rossignol, also acknowledged Samukonga’s achievement, noting that his bronze medal has brought recognition to Zambia internationally, including in France.

National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President Alfred Foloko praised all 32 athletes who represented Zambia at the Olympics, while Samukonga pledged to continue working hard to bring pride to Zambia, emphasizing that with adequate support, Zambian athletes can achieve great success.
