The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has raised concerns over the failure of alternative energy suppliers to pass on tax incentives to consumers by lowering prices.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala tells Mafken News that despite suppliers of solar energy equipment benefiting from tax breaks, the public continues to face high prices, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to access alternative energy sources.

Mr Nzala emphasized that the tax incentives were designed to promote the use of solar energy and urged suppliers to lower their prices to benefit consumers directly.

In August 2024, ZRA introduced the Tax Incentives and Exemptions Guide to educate the public about tax benefits in various sectors, including energy, to support Zambia’s clean energy targets.
