Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Sunday Chanda has underscored the importance of a robust and independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) owing to the critical role it plays in safeguarding the nation against the destructive effects of corruption.

He however notes that for the ACC to fully execute its mandate, it requires the leadership of a well-constituted, reputable Board, therefore the absence of such a Board has created a governance gap that must be urgently addressed.

Mr. Chanda observes that with Parliament is in session, Government must prioritize the appointment and ratification of the ACC Board because Without a Board, the ACC lacks the strategic vision necessary to drive long-term anti-corruption efforts.

The lawmaker tells Mafken News that the Board sets the strategic direction for the ACC, ensuring that the Commission’s efforts are aligned with national priorities in the fight against corruption, hence the urgency of appointment cannot be over emphasized.
