Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has confirmed that four more bodies have been recovered from the Senseli open pit mine, bringing the total number of victims from last December’s mine accident to 31.

Speaking to the media in Ndola, Mr Matambo stated that the retrieval operation has now concluded. The last four bodies were found by small-scale miners following a government order to halt operations at the site.

He stated that the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) will provide coffins for the deceased, and families have been notified for the identification process. Government has reinforced security at the site to prevent further accidents, and all mining activities at the site have been halted
