Shinde Ward Councillor Donates 100 Manhole Covers to his Ward

Residents of Kantanshi’s Shinde Ward have expressed their gratitude for the donation of over one hundred manhole covers by area councillor Teddy Chilufya.

The residents told Mafken News that many manholes in the ward have been without covers for years, leading to blockages in the sewer lines due to rubbish being thrown into them by unknown individuals.

Resident Gift Chanda mentioned that it has been challenging for parents to keep their children safe from falling into the manholes. Additionally, there have been reports of some residents dumping deceased babies into the manholes.

Shinde Ward Councillor Teddy Chilufya stated that his donation follows his observation of how the uncovered manholes threaten the livelihood of many Kantanshi residents.

Mr. Chilufya has urged other civic leaders in Mufulira District not to wait for water companies to address pressing issues that require immediate solutions.
