Residents of Luangwa in Kitwe district on the Copperbelt have bemoaned the erratic water supply in the area.

Earlier this week, Water Development and Sanitation Minister Collins Nzovu toured some ongoing works at Nkana Water infrastructure projects in Bulangililo, Nkana East, and Mukuba Natwange to appreciate the water supply situation in the district.

During the tour some Luangwa residents disclosed to Mafken News that they are being mandated to draw water from the Kafue River owing to the scarcity of water.

Some residents went on to voice their frustration by threatening to vote out the UPND Administration in the 2026 General election if they fail to address the critical issues affecting them.

But in response to the concerns raised by the community, Mr. Nzovu directed Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company to urgently address the challenge as they await the completion of the current project.
