New Congress Party Bemoans Shrinking Democratic Space

The New Congress Party NCP has bemoaned the shrinking of democratic space and the right to freedom of assembly being experienced under the New Dawn government.
Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, Party Leader Peter Chanda has alleged the Zambia police is not operating independently under the UPND government, a situation he described as alarming.
Mr. Chanda has also condemned the statement by Information Minister Cornelius Mweetwa saying the United Nations report on Zambia is false, reaffirming that the report is 100 percent right owing to the current happenings.
He has urged the UPND to address the current situation or risk being voted out by the United Kwacha Alliance-UKA because the constitution in itself grants citizens the right to association which the UPND is abrogating.
