The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’s Permanent Secretary, Maambo Hamaundu, has defended government’s handling of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), stating that significant progress has been made across the country.
In an interview with Mafken News, Mr. Hamaundu highlighted that many community-driven projects funded through the CDF are now visible in constituencies nationwide, reflecting the fund’s effectiveness.
He was responding to concerns raised by United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) leader Charles Chanda, who urged government to reassess its financial strategies, particularly in relation to CDF allocations.
Mr. Hamaundu acknowledged that with a population of 30 million, not everyone may immediately see the benefits of the fund, but emphasized that from government’s perspective, the CDF is performing well.
