Mufulira Mayor Tanaeli Kamanga has raised concerns about the local authority’s struggle to advance infrastructure development in markets due to inadequate revenue collection.
In an interview with Mafken News, Mr Kamanga explained that many traders prefer not to operate within local markets and avoid paying levies, which hampers the council’s ability to generate sufficient revenue for its sustainability.
He has urged traders to relocate their businesses to designated markets rather than continuing street vending.
He has however, thanked Mufulira Council for its efforts in ensuring that street vending is curbed in the District.
