Lufwanyama Resident Clarifies Arson Incident
Written by Mafken FM Newsroom on 28 August 2024
Lufwanyama District resident Bowas Mukenge has clarified that contrary to earlier reports, his house was not set on fire by a Chinese national.
The incident, which resulted in the loss of K50, 000 in cash and household goods valued at K25, 000, was initially reported to the police by Meckson Kikoko on August 14, 2024.
However, speaking to journalists in Kitwe this morning, Mr. Mukenge stated that his house was actually burnt by unknown individuals from the community.
He expressed surprise that the police had received a report implicating a Chinese national, emphasizing that this information was incorrect.
Mr. Mukenge also noted that the Chinese individual mentioned in the report had been helpful to him and the wider Lufwanyama community. As a result, he and his family decided to clarify the matter publicly and have since withdrawn the arson report from the Lufwanyama Police Station, stating that the fire was accidental and unrelated to the Chinese national.
