Government Raise Concerns Over Social Media Misuse in Zambia

Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu and Minister of Science and Technology Felix Mutati have raised concerns about the misuse of social media platforms in Zambia.
Speaking at a joint press briefing in Lusaka, the two ministers emphasized the potential risks and legal implications associated with the spread of unverified information and cybercrime.
Mr. Mwiimbu expressed disappointment over the increasing prevalence of false information circulating on social media.
He stressed that the dissemination of unverified news poses a significant threat to national security and public order.
The Home Affairs Minister urged Zambians to exercise greater caution and responsibility in their online activities, highlighting the potential consequences of sharing misleading or false information.
In his remarks, Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati underscored the seriousness of cyber crime, pointing out that every Zambian is accountable for their actions on social media.
He called for increased public awareness about the legal ramifications of online behavior, emphasizing the need for responsible use of digital platforms.
