FATAL RTA CLAIMS 5 LIVES ON MUFULIRA-SABINA ROAD

At least five people are reported to have died on the spot in a Road Traffic Accident –RTA- that happened this morning at Kansuswa Bridge along Mufulira-Sabina Road in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt.
Involved was a Toyota Hiace Mini bus, Volvo Truck and a Canter light truck belonging to G and G bakery.
And Mafken FM radio news crew who rushed to the scene found the Mini bus extensively damaged, while the canter was flipped on the left side of the road, with the Volvo Truck slightly damaged at the front.
Six victims who escaped with injuries are currently receiving medical attention at Kamuchanga District Hospital, while the all the 3 drivers are being attended to at Ronald Ross Hospital.
And, some Victims talked to by Mafken FM radio have alleged that, the driver of the truck caused the accident due to over speeding, while confirming the demise of other passengers aboard the same minibus.
Meanwhile, an eye witness Patrick Nkomeshya has explained that the truck which was coming from the direction of Sabina going into Mufulira town lost control and hit the canter at the back causing it to overturn on the side of the road and further went on to hit the Minibus which was coming from the other direction.
Mr Nkomeshya adds that, when he rushed to the scene he found splashes of blood on the road and found four people dead while the other person died on the way to the hospital.
The Police are yet to issue a statement on the matter.
