UNIDENTIFIED MALE DIES AFTER JUMPING FROM MOVING POLICE VEHICLE

An unidentified man has died after he allegedly jumped from a moving Police vehicle yesterday, near Suburbs area, along the Mufulira-Kitwe road.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed the incident to Mafken FM radio.
Mr Mweemba reveals that, the deceased unfortunately met his fate when he attempted to escape from Police custody as officers were transporting him and others from court to Mufulira Prison.
Mr Mweemba adds that officers later rushed him to hospital but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
He further states that the name of the victim has currently been withheld as the next of kin has not yet been informed.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness John Katayi tells Mafken FM radio that the victim who was in a Toyota Land Cruiser registered to Kantanshi Police, coming from the direction of town centre jumped from the vehicle and fell, which caused him to sustain serious looking injuries on his head, leg and arm.
