MUFULIRA’S MANO PRIMARY SCHOOL TO BE UPGRADED TO SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTRE

Mano primary School in Mufulira district has been earmarked for a significant upgrade to transform it into a special education centre.

In a speech read on her behalf by Mufulira Community Development Officer, Susan Ngulimba during the provincial exhibition for leaners with special education needs held at Mufulira Mine Primary School on 30th June, 2023, District Commissioner, Saboi Kabika has disclosed that, the project which will be funded through the Constituency Development Fund – CDF, aims to promote equity in the special education sector.

Ms Kabika reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring equal access to quality education for all, adding that, the upgrade of the School into a special education centre marks as an important step towards inclusive education.

She further explains that the project is expected to have a significant positive impact on the education landscape, fostering inclusivity and empowering learners with special needs to thrive academically.

Meanwhile, Mufulira District Education Board Secretary -DEBS, Elizabeth Ng’onga, has revealed that, Mano Primary School has received a substantial amount of Four million four hundred seventy thousand kwacha.

Ms Ng’onga says the funding will be allocated towards the construction of two classroom blocks, two dormitories, and an ablution block.

The DEBS further states that, the district commissioner’s office had donated 10 bags of mealie-meal to the special education unit.
