PRESIDENT HH CHALLENGED TO APOLOGISE FOR UNFULFILLED KCM AND MOPANI PROMISES

Some Residents of Mufulira District on the Copperbelt Province have challenged Republican President Hakainde Hichilema to issue an apology to citizens over the unfulfilled promises he has been making since he was ushered into office in 2021 on Mopani and Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) respectively.

One of the residents, Leonard Sikanyika says the republican president has visited the Province several times making assurances that the issues surrounding the two giant Mines will be sorted out soon, but up to now no investor has been seen on sight to run the mines.

Mr Sikanyika adds that the economy of the province depends on the operations of the mines, which means the recapitalisation of the mines should have been prioritised.

Meanwhile, UPND Chairman for Mines and Freedom Fighter Percy Chanda says the unnecessary pressure on government to expedite the process of unlocking the two mines can lead to a situation where they are sold at a give-away price with unfavorable conditions for miners and ordinary Zambians.
