FC MUZA BIDS FAREWELL TO HEAD COACH LAMECK BANDA AFTER ‘SUCCESSFUL’ 2022-23 SEASON

Written by on 27 June 2023

Zambian Super League side FC MUZA have parted ways with Head Coach, Lameck Banda following a successful 2022-23 season.

Lameck Banda led the club to CAF Confederation Cup and an Absa Cup final.

Banda was appointed FC MUZA coach in August 2022 and led the club through a historic 2022-23 season.

During his tenure, Banda led the club to impressive performances that saw them finish in second place in the Super League and automatically qualifying for their maiden CAF Confederation Cup.

Banda also led the Mazabuka based outfit to the ABSA Cup Final where they lost to Forest Rangers at a packed Woodlands Stadium.

And reacting to this in an interview with Mafken FM radio, Kitwe based Soccer Analyst Muyundana Sianga says the club had no option but to part ways with him because he did not have a CAF Managers Licence in order to Manage the team in the CAF Confederation cup.

He has, however, noted that the club made a mistake to mutually part ways with Banda instead, they would have allowed him be part of the technical bench and serve under the incoming coach.

MUZA will be representing Zambia in the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2023-24 Season and this will the Club’s maiden appearance in Africa’s elite club tournament.
