Written by on 23 June 2023

The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) Acting President, Given Lubinda has regretted the decision made to go for a General Conference in a haste after they lost power in the August 12th, 2021, Elections to UPND.

On August 21st, 2022, they invited prospective presidential candidates to apply for the contest, announcing that the party’s General Conference would be held on the last weekend of March 2023, when a new party president would be unveiled.

However, Mr. Lubinda tells Mafken FM radio that the party was too emotional after it was dislodged from power.

Mr. Lubinda further observes that there were a lot of issues they needed to address before committing themselves to any particular date for the general conference.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lubinda has stated that going to the general conference will be unsuccessful if the party cannot attend to important matters like the constitution which he says is key in the party’s process to rebrand.
