ZACCI IMPLORES GOVERNMENT TO BEEF UP TOURISM AND INVESTMENT PROMOTION DESKS AT FOREIGN MISSIONS

The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) has implored Government through line ministries to collectively and effectively engage and beef up the staff establishment in terms of the numbers of personnel handling the promotion and attraction of Zambia as a tourist and investment destination.
Speaking in a statement issued to Mafken FM radio, ZACCI President Chabuka Kawesha says this is very essential as the country is competing for tourist numbers and credible financially sound investments, against 53 other countries on the African Continent.
He notes that, from interactions with the private sector, it is clear that Zambian foreign missions need more investment promotion personnel, regularly updated investment promotional materials and coordinated investment messaging on Zambia as a Country to deliver the development and inward-investment impact desired.
Mr Kawesha cites that Public Relations desks need more resources, enhanced public relations materials and experts, sufficient market and regulatory information on Zambia as well as industry opportunity materials.
He further explains that this will not only expand and increase the knowledge base on the country, but translate into increased interests on Zambia ranging from more international airlines opting for the country as a preferred destination and thus, increase investment interests as well as generate higher tourism numbers.
