President Hakainde Hichilema says his government is deeply committed to the fight against corruption while deepening the rule of law in the country.
President Hichilema says he and his government have a right to be vindictive having been the most detained and sidelined citizen but emphasised that his government should be commended for promoting the rule of law.
He reiterated that no Zambian should be arrested based on social media stories without investigations while those arrested on bondable matters should receive bond.
President Hichilema has however taken a swipe at PF Chairperson for Information and Publicity Raphael Nakachinda for using social media for discriminating Tonga’s on tribal grounds.
And the President said there will be no compromise on the fight against corruption and no insinuation will sway his government from the fight against the scourge.
Addressing the media at State House, the President said no government official including those that interacted with the corrupt in the previous regime should stand in the way of the fight against corruption.
He reiterated that a clique of thieves is using public officers to push their agenda but warned that his governments respect for the rule of law should not be mistaken for weakness.
And President Hichilema has insisted he has never met Milingo Lungu and has not offered him immunity from prosecution.
He said he has no capacity and no Presidential Aide has the capacity to offer immunity to anyone.
