Ex miners in Mufulira District to receive training in poultry farming.

Ex miners in Mufulira have signed a poultry empowerment partnership deal with a private South African firm.
Under the initiative, the former miners will receive free chicks and subsidized feed.
Association of Ex Miners General Secretary Reuben Mukamba says the deal will see ex miners in turn re-selling the chickens to the named firm that has ready market for chickens.
Mr. Mukamba has told Mafken FM Radio that hundreds of ex miners will start receiving training on poultry farming in Mufulira this Friday.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mukamba has urged the Government through the Disaster Management and MITIGATION Unit DMMU to expedite the allocation of farm plots to ex miners in Mufulira.
He is concerned that despite the DDMU releasing half a million kwacha for the mapping of farm plots, none of the ex miners in Mufulira have been allocated land in the Njiri forest area as earlier agreed.
