Written by on 11 November 2020

Zambians across the country are eager to register as voters but almost the entire voter registration process  has been marred by hicups.

Those spoken to have complained that the Electoral commission of Zambia ECZ does not seem to have the capacity to conduct the process.

Stakeholders have further raised concerns if the ECZ will manage to register the targeted nine million voters in the next one month.

In Kitwe, the registration exercise is less impressive. Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has told Mafken FM that the ECZ should consider extending the registration period as the 30 allocated for the excise is not enough.

And a concerned Mufulira resident Daniel Kamenga has urged the ECZ to consider opening up more registration centers in the mining town.

A check by Mafken FM Radio yesterday however found sizable ques of would be voters lining up at 3 of the 27 centers in readiness for the registration process.
