Three people feared dead after drowning in Gwembe district

Three fishermen in Gwembe district have died after drowning on lake Kariba.

The trio met their fate after the boat they were in capsized.

The other person on the boat managed to swim to safety.

The deceased have been identified as Abraham Chingombe aged 27, Ben Chishala aged aged 20 and Chilamuka Jiwawa aged 24 all of Namanzuma area of Gwembe District.

The survivor who reported the incident to Police has been identified as Chanda Chibale aged 26 of Namanzuma area.

The incident happened on November 3, 2020 around 20:30 hours.

The four fishermen were heading to Skipper island for fishing.

Bodies of the missing people have not yet been retrieved.

Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the development to Mafken FM news this morning.
